Dear Parents and children,
We are really excited to tell you that today we launched a new reading initiative in school. The children were very enthusiastic to see the collection of the 'Top 100 books to read before you leave Primary School' on display and are eager to get reading.
Today, each child has been sent home with their own guide to the challenge which encourages them to borrow and return books from a collection available outside the Staff Room. As the children read the books, they can stamp their chart by using the blue star stamp attached to the board. During assembly today we shared The Gruffalo so this can be stamped straight away!
Please help the children to take precious care of these books as they travel to and from school as we hope to keep them in use at school for a long time. Please could parents also ensure that the books are returned to the shelves that they came from and that only one book is borrowed at a time.
We would love to hear and see the children enjoying these books so if you are able to, please send any photos and comments from the children to firstname.lastname@example.org
Jaws and Claws - Kingfishers - October 2017
Today, we were visited by lots of exciting creatures that come from North and South America. We learnt about their habitat, life cycle, diet and behaviour.
Phil from 'Jaws and Claws' was able to answer lots of the questions that the children (and grown ups) had. We got to hold snakes, lizards, frogs and lots of other reptiles.
